Snuggles with Monroe :)

It's starting to drop chilly early in the evening now, so last night we popped jumpers on the girls whilst the heating warmed the house through. We came across a pair of PJ's we ordered months back from Tinkerbells Closet, so we decided to put them on Monroe. She was thrilled with her new found warmth and got down next to me on the sofa for a cheeky nap!

Monroe's Accident

Today ended up being a very stressful day! The girls have lots of toys and one of their favourites is a chew bone, which Monroe was lying playing with on one of our sofas. Monroe has trouble with her throat/soft palate and hacks/coughs quite a lot, but she usually either sorts herself out or is pacified by one of us rubbing her throat gently.

This afternoon though, mid chew, she began to choke. It was different from her usual 'hacking' and as I picked her up I noticed she wasn't actually breathing and her stomach was pulled right in. I patted her back and rubbed her throat, but nothing happened and she couldn't get her breath in for a good 30 seconds. In situations like this it's incredibly hard not to panic!

I pushed her head back so her nose was in the air and (on our vets advice) pushed my finger down her throat to try and free whatever was stuck. It must have dislodged something because she managed to suck a breath in. She continued to breathe, although she was extremely wheezy and obviously very frightened. (Jonny was on the phone to our vet throughout the ordeal.) After 5 minutes she was breathing normally and after 10 she'd stopped shaking and the panic was mostly over. She was quiet for a while, understandably and is now back to her normal self. I've been around dogs for years and been around a few emergencies, some with happy endings and some not so, but I've never been around a dog unable to breathe.

It's times like this I honestly believe Animal Ambulances should be a national service, with the same status and availability as the human version! It's a 15 minute drive to our vets and if we hadn't been able to sort her ourselves, with our vets advice, she simply wouldn't have made it to the vets. It doesn't bare thinking about...

Luckily we can say Monroe is fine and seems to be none the wiser as far as what happened!

All the treats we ordered last time have arrived, so the girls have been chowing down on those :) The chicken and rice paste didn't go down amazingly, they still prefer the peanut butter and the liver flavours, but they really seemed to enjoy the salmon mousse :)

Other than that things have been pretty quiet. We did however manage to catch Rafferty playing on camera though, which is a rarity! We'll upload the video and a short clip of Lily being cute too and post them soon :)

Happy half birthday Lily and Alfie!

Lily and Alfie turned 6 months old this month, on the 5th, I've been meaning to post about it since but despite taking pictures specifically for a post, I kept completely forgetting/being too busy, so time to make up for it!

I haven't got any new pics of Alfie, I'll have to get my dad to take some, but here's some 6 month birthday pictures of Lily, hope you enjoy! :)

We've don't really have anything to update, so we'll go away, do something blog worthy and return in a day or 2 with tales to delight! (And hopefully some pictures of Alfie!) :)

Doggy deliveries...

It's been about 2 weeks since our last post, so we thought it was high time to share some pictures and what not :)

Not much has really been going on, although by the name of the post you may have guessed we ordered some more things... ;)

We just ordered a few bits and bobs over the weekend, a giant (51cm tall) giraffe that squeaks and rattles, another tub of Coachies (as we were running low), some dried duck fillet pieces, some dried liver pieces, a slipper toy, a fleece tug rope, a twisty nylon chew toy, several Nylabones and Marrowbones in various flavours, (bacon, jerky and chicken I think) and our pièce de résistance, a huge batch of dried beef knuckles!

As hilarious as it seems to some people, that my 'wimpy handbag dogs' might be able to tackle these huge cuts of bone, they absolutely adore them and we'd recommend them to any dog owner, whether your pooch is big or small! ^^

We'll sort through them and we'll do a past times type post sometime this week, along with updates as the rest of our things arrive :)

General Update.

It's been a while since we posted, so time for a quick update!

Not too much has happened, Lily and Alfie have both started losing their teeth, we think Lily's pretty much done losing hers now.

Buffy, Rafferty and Monroe are all doing well and trundling along, being spoilt as ever.
I had to order them some more food the other day, so naturally the got another toy, just a little vanilla flavoured rubber ball that you can stuff with kibble/paste etc.
I shall have to try and get a picture of it :)

Lily might be getting a change of (middle) name, from 'Armani' to 'Laurent*'... as we may need to use Armani elsewhere...which leads us to the biggest news we have, we may be adding to the Hilton clan once again, although we're sticking to the Hilton chihuahua format for sure!

We'll know more by the weekend (maybe a lot more ;D) so we'll post Saturday/Sunday ^^

*Rafferty's middle name is 'Yves' as in, Yves St Laurent, so we thought 'Laurent' would be cute :) Thoughts on this? Hmm.

News, updates and pictures of Alfie too!

How rude Rafferty! 

 Just kidding, she was asking for a lick of some nummy food no doubt! ;D

We've been neglecting our posting a little the past few days, had some things on with Lily finally getting her 2nd jab, Rafferty getting her booster shot, sorting for Monroe and Lily to get micro chipped in a week or 2 plus seeing people and all the usual!

The rainbow rubber ring finally came! Aaaand none of them like it -.-

Not even Buffy... Typical we know. 

They're all in love with Mr. Octopus, the headless kong zebra, and their various rope tug toys right now, but we'll see in a few weeks when we're planning to order some more things!

Also, there's been talk of another addition after it didn't work out with Rae, this time we will be sticking by our breed, our girls just don't handle bigger pups! 

It's a shame, but they have to come first and we love our 4 Hilton chi's :)

We'll do a blog post once we know more, all we can really say is we are looking at one but she's only about 10 days old now, so our details are limited, one thing we can say is she'll be Monroe and Lily's half sister (Sugar is their daddy)... 

But we'll post more about her as time goes by!

We snatched a few pics of Alfie as promised, he (and ofc Lily) are coming up 5 months old now! 

We can hardly believe how time has flown...

Incredible how much he's changed, we still think he's a cutie, although we might be a little bit biased ;)

Sleepover in style at the Hiltons!

A while ago we ordered 2 pairs of PJs from the fabulous Tinkerbells Closet, which arrived yesterday!

In other news, the rainbow gummy ring still hasn't arrived :(
We'll do a blog/picture post as soon as it does though!

'Grandad' and 'Mamma Angie' visited last night and brought Alfie!
We can't believe how much he's changed :O

We'll try and take some pictures of him next time, could be a challenge though, he's like a little whirlwind :)
After the initial sniff fest and a few grumbles the girls seemed pleased to see their 'new' brother and had a blast playing together!

Lily's coming up 4½ months old now and as she's had her jabs, it won't be long before she gets her 'big girl' harness ready for walkies...  
(Which have been neglected as of late, seeing as she couldn't come with us!)

We're looking at the Puppia range and have decided to get the other girls matching ones...

Buffy will of course have the pink, Monroe the brown/beige (not sure yet) and we're thinking of getting the green one for Lily but we can't decide what colour to get poor Rafferty :(
There are a few patterned ones we like so she made end up with one of those!

We'll be getting the thick fleece lined zebra ones for winter walks, it's so much colder up here and if the snow is the same next year they'll sure need them!

Slightly later than planned, it's our 'Christmas tree post'! Woooo! Exciting stuff right? ;)

Seeing as we're not really sure how much crap we can chat about about tree's, festive or otherwise, we'll just post a few pictures for your enjoyment!

Yes, we know, we haven't wrapped all our presents yet, but to be fair to us the last of the girls toys arrived today and we're still waiting on Rafferty's tracksuit! So there ;D

In other news our BSL t shirt and wrist band arrived this morning (see our original post here) and we're thrilled, time to wear them out and spread the word!

On the subject of Staffies, we found an incredible Australian based site dedicated to the breed and we're dying to order practically everything from their store!
Narrowed it down to 3 choices items though, a t shirt, a necklace and a fridge magnet :)
Shall be ordering those asap come the new year!

In other news, it's bedlam in the Hilton household right now, Monroe's leg is still sore and now Lily's joined the club and has pulled a muscle, along her ribs no less!
Whatever will we do with them!?

No more arrivals in the way of pressies, so no update there, in fact we have yet to order Monroe's, the colour we want it in isn't in stock! :(
Fingers crossed it's in again in time for Christmas!!!
