News and Updates! (with pictures and videos)

It's been ages since we've done an update/picture type post! We've been so busy with PAW and our reviews and things around the house/garden...

We've had a lot on lately anyway, but we managed to put some time aside to play with the girls :) We had a blast playing with Lily's birthday toys, the Aikiou and the Dogit.

This is how they did the very first day we got the toys -

 And this is them now, 2 weeks later, this is roughly the 4th time they've used them :) -

I love how excited they get when we get the new toys out, even if it is only Lily and Lola who seem to have mastered them :')

To give Monroe some credit after 2 weeks of not seeming to even notice the new toys, she did this -

It makes me laugh that she didn't even bother to take the treat after, she just wandered off with a satisfied look on her face. We call it her 'I did it!' face :')

And look what Buffy learnt to do!

Still got a bit of work to do on her 'crawl', she's supposed to do like an army crawl, but she gets over excited and just skitters about :')

We also had some work done in the garden! A few months ago our area was flooded with dog thefts and we almost had our girls taken. Our garden only has very low wall, about 4 foot and to cut a long story short they were out to pee late one night and a guy came over our wall and tried to grab them. Luckily we interrupted him and he ran. Since then we never let the girls out into the garden alone, even during the day. We've been thinking about sorting some fencing since that happened but never got around to it.

Everything was quiet for a while anyway and then a few days ago we had our gate unbolted in the the night (it had a heavy pad bolt on the inside, but was low enough for someone to easily lean over) and we were worried about the girls getting out if it happened again. So, we decided to have some fencing panels put up on top of our existing wall, making it about 7 foot and a new taller gate put on with a padlock. My dad and Jonny did it Thursday morning and we all feel more at ease :) We're looking at moving again in a few months, hopefully we'll get a nicer garden, until then our new fence is exactly what we needed!

This is our new fence! You can see just how low our wall really was :(

We'll be back in a few days with some training updates/videos of Lola, plus we're hoping to do some more baking, so we'll have more pupcake info and pictures soon, but until then...

Love & licks as always,
Rio, Jonny, Buffy, Rafferty, Monroe, Lily and Lola.

Baking Garlic, Cheese and Spinach American Biscuits!

You may remember about a week ago we had a baking day and made some 'pupcakes'. We decided to have a go at something a little different today, American Style Biscuits. They're thicker and softer than traditional English biscuits, they're kind of a cross between a biscuit and a scone? Anyway, we made some in a garlic, cheese and spinach flavour, which went down well with the girls. (I wouldn't recommend these for humans, bit of an odd combination for our sweet biscuit loving palates!)

Sampling their treats;

Lily decided to try stealing a chunk and running off...

Tut tut!

The recipe we used;
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter chilled, cut into pieces
2/3 cup milk - reduce milk slightly if adding wet ingredients for flavour

Bake at 450F for 12-15 minutes, allow to cool and tear in half to serve. Makes 12.

For the garlic, cheese and spinach flavour just add 1/2 tablespoon garlic paste OR 1 finely chopped clove, a small handful of grated chedder and a generous palm full of roughly chopped spinach.

We'll be doing another baking post in a few days, we're going to have a go at some traditional English type biscuits, the thin crunchy kind!

Love & licks,
Rio, Jonny, Buffy, Rafferty, Monroe, Lily and Lola.

Baking Pupcakes!

Today we decided to do a little baking! I've done bits and pieces for the girls before, but today we decided to share the experience... We made honey muffins with a banana and vanilla cream cheese topping! These muffins are edible by humans (Jonny ate 3, minus the topping, he had icing on his) but the girls seemed to prefer it when they were eating them... I wonder why!

Our Pupcakes!

Taste testing;

Mm yummy!
We can't stop laughing at all the big eyes and long tongues :')

Sharing;

The mysterious cake stealing Chihuahua that appears from the shadows only for delicious pupcakes;

The cakes are 100% dog safe and although they aren't super fattening, I do only give the girls a piece or 2 a day, so this batch of 12 will last them a good few days, although we'll probably send some over for Alfie, we best get a move on though before they're...

...all gone!

The recipe we used;
2 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter (melted)
1/4 cup honey

Bake for 15-18 minutes at 400F/200C. Makes 12.

For the topping you need to combine 1 small/medium pot of natural banana yoghurt, 2 tablespoons of cream cheese, a drop of vanilla essence, 1 teaspoon icing sugar and 1/4 cup pouring cream (whipped).
Refrigerate for 30 minutes prior to piping, helps firm it up a treat ;)

You could also do different flavours - Apple and Cinnamon, Carrot cake, Peanut butter, Vanilla, Ginger, Pumpkin, Mint etc etc. There's so many to choose from :O

We hope you have a go at making your very own pupcakes and we hope they're super yummy!
